Payment arrangements help spread your payments out over a longer period.

This means you can make regular weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payments. The minimum payment will depend on the total amount you owe and how often you pay.

Don't wait for your fine to be overdue to request a payment arrangement.
A payment arrangement application fee of $20.50 is payable on new arrangements.

Request a payment arrangement

You can request a payment arrangement at any time:

By entering into a payment arrangement you acknowledge you can no longer elect to be prosecuted, nominate another driver or apply for a review. Any demerit points will be issued to the person named on the notice and can no longer be disputed or transferred.

If you have defaulted on previous payment arrangements, you may find your request is not accepted. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

How to pay by instalments

When setting up a payment arrangement, you will need your fines reference number and your payment reference number.

You can organise to pay in instalments:

  • via Direct Debit from your financial account
  • online at Fines Online (Mastercard or Visa)
  • over the phone on 1800 659 538 (Mastercard or Visa)
  • through a regular debit from your Centrelink payments.

Direct Debit payments

Once you have set up a payment arrangement, you can set up a regular Direct Debit from your financial accounts to make sure you don't miss any payments.

You can request a Direct Debit online, over the phone on 1800 659 538 or in writing, using the Direct Debit request form.

Adding a fine to my payment arrangement

You can apply to have a new fine added to your payment arrangement. This will mean your regular payment instalments will increase.

Apply at Fines Online, or over the phone on 1800 659 538. An additional fee may apply.
